About 3 weeks ago I noticed a few mice droppings in the hall bathroom. I'm not a friend of mice, as I don't know anybody that is, so I knew that I had to do something to get rid of them. Most likely I knew they were underneath my house and coming up at night. My options were to get some poison and crawl underneath the house and put it there and to also set traps inside of the house.......OR, I could just pay somebody else to do it. I decided after calling a few companies that I would hire Orkin. Two days later an Orkin guy came out and the only thing he would do for me was set out 5 sticky traps around the house. I asked him if he would go under the house and he told me that they don't do that. So, I as the trusting *** that I am agreed hoping that he knew what he was doing as he is called the 'pest expert'.
Ten days go by and still no mice are being caught. I sit on my couch and watch them run across the living room floor, see them running around my back yard at night, and watch them run around in the kitchen. I start to notice that for whatever reason they are taking the dirt out of my house plants and leaving a trail of it across my living room. Then, two days ago I took my couch cushions out and saw that they were making a nice nest in my couch. Dirt, dog food, and stuffing that they were taking from my pillow in the living room. I pulled out the couch and wanted to die. The carpet had mouse pee and poo everywhere. I pulled out my steam vacuum and cleaned the whole carpet, couch, and anything else that I could in the living room. Then, I called Orkin.
The lady that I spoke to told me she would send somebody out again right away free of charge. I asked her what the policy was on going underneath houses and she told me that "oh yes, of course we will go under your house." After telling her that the previous man had stated they don't do that she was shocked and said that she would be reporting that to his supervisor. So, the next day, I sit and wait and I was stood up by Orkin. I called again and the lady apologized and allegedly the man did not get the message to come to my house.....so, *** me again reschedules for today. Today when the man showed up it was the same guy that came the first time. I told him that I want him to go under my house. He said, "has anyone ever even been under there?" I told him yes, and that is was clean and there was nothing for him to be afraid of. He looked at the hole again and then said, "well, I'm too fat to go under there, but I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll give you the blocks and you or your husband can do it." whaa??? I politely said that if we wanted to do it I wouldn't have paid him to do it for us, and that neither I or anybody else in my family or circle of friends would be going under the house to take care of a mouse problem that I was paying him to take care of". He excused himself to go outside and see if he could get a different guy to go under my house/.
When he came back inside, he told me that his supervisor said that nobody would be going under my house and that they would only treat the problem outside of the house with a bait house BUT I had to pay for the bait house!!!! I then told him that since they were refusing to get to the root of my problem and wanted to charge me additional costs that I would like my money back!. He eagerly said ok, just call customer service'. Then, on the way out the door he asked me if I would continue my other pest service for the spiders;. I kinda chuckled and said that I could live with spiders, but what I can't live with is the problem that he's refusing to take care of/. When I called customer service the lady told me that I would have to talk to a supervisor but conveniently they were all out in the field and she would try to have one call me tomorrow'. So, now here I sit and wait for a phone call, which I'm sure I'll be calling them back before they even attempt to call me|.
Moral of the story, DON'T EVER USE ORKIN!!! 129aac4

| 1. Written by Jason Martin on May 1, 2012 from milton, florida, US I've worked for Orkin in Pensacola Florida for years. Orkin is by far the best pest control company I've ever worked for. I've been in the pest management business for 20 years. If these things happened at my branch the tech would be fired in a heart beat. Sorry if these things happened as described but that's not the way Orkin operates there company. |
| 2. Written by Trishispissed on November 21, 2011 from dayton, ohio, US Same situation with the mouse droppings. They wont use poisons to kill these guys. We have fleas in our house because of these mice (no pets) and we have a 1 year old daughter. We dont want them biting her. To add, we have had the house sprayed for fleas numerous times and the mice are not all dead! which means more fleas. But orkin wont solve the problem of actually getting rid of the mice. So we tried to cancel our service, get this, we're in a contract with them for a year so we cant get out. |

4. Written by Xorkin on November 20, 2010 from detroit, michigan, US Orkins new policy doesnt want them to use baits or poisons for rodent issues, just traps. LOL whats that gonna do. They dont like the cost of baits or their techs poisioning other animals because of their mis-use of products. Would you pay 250 for a service that just uses sticky traps that can be bought for 20 bucks for a box of 50. Stay away from these scam artists! |
| 5. Written by big pest control on June 8, 2009 from sacramento, california, US thats terrible perhaps you need to kill the orkin guy and leave him under the house and when the mice eat him they will die , because he sounds like rat poison to begin with. orkin rots they screwed me with a termite contract and my house fell down. .. Now i live in an apt with lots of crazy people. |
| 6. Written by Liz on October 24, 2008 from tampa, florida, US I work for one of Orkin's competitor's and this is exactly why- because on a daily basis i have to clean up there mess. That was poor customer service! It is not your problem that the tech was "to big" to get under the house it was his. He had a job to do and should have done it the first time he was there!! Unforetunely you dont know there company practice and you are being told conflicting things by several people which speaks poorly on the company when they can not even agree on that is supposed to be done. Anyways good luck on your next provider they are not all like that!! |
7. Written by Scott Broders on October 16, 2008 from san francisco, california, US Sorry to hear of your problem. I am a service manager for Orkin in the SF bay area and this is not the way our district operates. Sounds like the tech was not very good with the basic Orkin training points. In his inspection he should have been able to locate and show you the rodent entry and exit points as well as do the exclusion repair work of sealing broken vents or cracks where rodents can gain entry to the home. Looks like management dropped the ball as well. Again sorry this happened to you as this is not the proper way they were trained, they know better and looks like they won't be working for Orkin for very long. |
| 8. Written by Krispykab on September 4, 2008 from hanford, california, US Just wanted to update, I have finally received my refund but not without many hours of persistence on my part. Shortly after I wrote this I still had not received my phone call from orkin so my husband took it upon himself to call. He directly was put through to the district manager who somehow convinced my husband to give Orkin a second chance. I was not too happy about that but I did want the rodents out of my house so I went along with it. The district manager came out to our house that night after business hours and brought two other people with him. They crawled under my house, in the attic and found the nest. They set traps around, above and below my house. I was told that somebody would be at my house the very next morning to check on the traps. After they left I was happy with that service, but it was so short lived. Nobody showed up the next morning, and when I called I once again just had to leave a message with no return phone call. A week later, I called again with once again just being ignored. Customer service finally made me an appointment only for me to waste my whole day waiting for them to show up when all they did was stand me up again, when I called back I was told that they forgot to alert the gentleman that was supposed to come and made me an appointment for the next day, in which I was stood up again. My husband finally got a hold of the district manager again and he was told that somebody was coming out to our house that night. Hours later nobody showed up and when I opened my front door to go outside a piece of paper was laying on my door step stating that they came and nobody was home, well you can't come to my front door and knock without my dog going crazy, and I was in the living room studying in the quiet so I would have heard him. My husband immediately called the district manager and to make this short we never got through to him again via phone and email. The next week I called and asked for the billing department and asked where my refund was, they were very helpful and polite and informed me they needed to get a hold of the district manager, I informed them that I would be calling every other day until I got my refund. Every time I called they would tell me that they were not sure why I hadn't received my refund and that once again they would check and get it to me as soon as possible, eventually they did get it straightened out for me. Three weeks later and hours of phone calls, I finally got my money back. Needless to say, Orkin still hasn't come to pick up their bait stations and traps, I doubt they ever will because they are just too lazy. |
